Leading fintech provider, a not-for-profit, and NSW Education join forces to encourage entrepreneurialism in NSW schools
On the 24th of August, the Sydney office of FinClear welcomed students, teachers, parents, local business owners and event organisers to the Enterprise in the Community 2022 Student Presentation Competition.
Enterprise in the Community (EitC) is an experiential learning program for school students. The design of the program brings school communities and local business communities together to collaborate and solve real-world business problems. Learners experience a journey to discover how to apply life skills that they can use every day. EitC is the brainchild of not-for-profit, SEVENmile and is delivered in conjunction with the NSW Department of Education – Regional Industry Education Partnerships (RIEP).
Wednesday night marked an ‘Australian-first’ as the competition pitted the 5 finalist schools against one another in a live presentation format with 3 independent judges determining the result.
FinClear and our wholly owned subsidiary, FCX, were proud sponsors of the event offering cash prizes to the winning schools and finalists.
FinClear & FCX CEO, David Ferrall, stated “I feel strongly about doing more to nurture Australia’s entrepreneurial spirit and recognise it’s something that should be nurtured and developed from a young age”.
The night was concluded with the team from Balgowlah Boys taking out first place.
Finalist schools (in order of how they finished) included:
- Balgowlah Boys
- St Clare’s College Waverley
- St Paul’s Catholic College Manly
- Alexandria Park Community School (tied for fourth)
- Mackellar Girls (tied for fourth)
