Who we are

At FinClear, technology and progress are in our DNA. We are an independent, Australian-owned and developed technology and financial services business, specialising in providing trading, execution, clearing and technology solutions to wholesale intermediaries, FinTech’s, wealth managers and financial planners.

Our Financial Markets infrastructure could be likened to other major global platforms that deal with massive amounts of data and huge volumes of transactions that are executed in real-time to a vast audience. But unlike others, we own our own regulatory and technology infrastructure enabling us to partner closely and move quickly to build solutions that are fit for purpose to better assist our clients.

FinClear was established in 2015 with offices now in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. We’ve almost tripled in size the last 12 months and have further plans to grow with more platforms and services in the pipeline to be released. We have accomplished a lot, but our sights are set on what we haven’t done, and that’s the competitive advantage we offer to our clients and where you come in.

About the role 

This specific DevOps Engineer role will help FinClear reimagine the way in which we deliver software to our customers. With a focus on release and deployment, it is expected that skills in Jira, Bash and Bamboo will help with:

  • Configuring, packaging and deploying software
  • Improving tooling for our technical teams
  • Simplifying the development and deployment processes
  • Designing new approaches that help scale our applications
  • Improving infrastructure security
  • Reducing technical debt

Skills or experience required:

  • Amazon Linux, RHEL, Solaris and Windows
  • Strong Bash scripting capabilities
  • A track record of Administering or creating workflows in Jira
  • Experience having worked with Bamboo or another deployment tool, for example:
    • Jenkins, Octopus Deploy, TeamCity, CircleCI, etc

The tech stack:

  • CI/CD tools and technologies, AWS, Linux, OSX
  • Vault, Terraform, Nomad, Bash
  • Gitlab CI, GIT, Docker, AWS (EC2,S3, RDS), Kibana, Grafana, Jira, Bamboo
  • GIT, IntelliJ, Jira, Confluence

What you’ll do

At FinClear the DevOps Engineers’ key purpose is to collaborate with teams to embed a culture of DevOps in the business. Ultimately delivering software in an efficient manner that our customers appreciate leads to increase usage. This is a key role in the business that will assist our Software Engineering team to deliver more quickly, securely, and efficiently.

The DevOps Engineer will be working closely with our Project Manager and development team of 8 who are part of a larger cross-functional team of 40 with more growth to come.

Long term, you are likely to: 

  • Contribute to DevOps strategy for FinClear
  • Help to promote DevOps approaches across FinClear
  • Design and build automated pipelines using DevOps approaches
  • Work closely with Developers, Testers and other stakeholders to understand their needs
  • Identify constraints, risks and purpose of solutions
  • Provide technical leadership in designing and delivering engineered solutions
  • Provide architectural guidance on solutions development and system integration
  • Ensure all key stakeholders’ concerns are being met
